Galerie Chez Valentin, Paris
Air de Paris, Paris
October-November, 2012

Two exhibitions mounted simultaneously. One inspired by the scratched-out, spend-all-afternoon-in-the-corner-booth-of-a-coffee-shop process of writing jokes as conceptual corollary to Abstract Expressionism, the other about the circulation of jokes as represented in the familiar (but counterfeit) form of a Richard Prince joke painting.

The shows where accompanied by the world premiere of Dick's Last Stand, my retelling of a classic Richard Pryor routine that was utterly lost in translation in a French context. But it was a tight show in a beautifully crumbling old art deco theatre in the bowels of the Palais de Tokyo. Quelle d'ambiance!
